Salford Royal Hospital
Neurophysiology
MediServices Healthcare helps Neurophysiology departments nationwide including at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (Formerly Hope Hospital).
MediServices Healthcare works closely with the team at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (SRFT) offering an overflow service ensuring patients are seen quicker supporting both outpatient services and theatre neuromonitoring services for spinal and cranial surgery. We offer evening and weekend services in outpatients and offer spinal/cranial monitoring services allowing theatres to cover additional lists.
We have found MediServices to be consistently professional flexible, and responsive to our service needs.

The Problem
The Kings fund recently highlighted the pressures on the NHS writing “The NHS is treating more patients than ever before, with activity increasing across the board. But key performance measures for hospital services are now being missed throughout the year. These pressures are being felt in all areas.”
As we recover from Covid19 our NHS will be under greater pressure with the BBC writing “Health bosses fear the Covid-19 crisis could see the number of people waiting for NHS treatment double to 10 million by the end of the year
The Solution
The future of the Service
We work with each department understanding the pressures the services are under and coming up with solutions that work locally. Andile Siziba the Chief Executive at MediServices comments …
“We have found that there is no one size fits all solution, our first role is to understand the service and the pressures a service is facing we then work together to find solutions that would work locally.
It’s a team effort working with the department for the benefit of the patient”.
As a clinical discipline often dealing with complex diagnostic and neuromonitoring patients, we work with senior clinicians who have NHS experience.
Mr Kamran Hassan a Consultant Spinal Surgeon who regularly works with our specialists in theatre adds “MediServices is capable and reliable. It has the ability to interpret trends in monitoring. This has been inclusive of very difficult cases including an acute thoracic pedicle subtraction osteotomy with neurological deficit. The clear communication delivered altered the order in which The surgery was performed. The clinical outcome was excellent”.
MediServices works with clinical teams and managers as part of the team. We offer a dynamic service adapting according to the pressures the service is facing. Sharon Edwards Lead Manager ENT & Spinal Surgery also adds “Great service, friendly, contactable and reliable even at short notice.” “MediServices supports NHS departments nationwide, we provide add on clinics which ensure patients are seen quicker.”
The key to any clinical service is sound clinical governance. MediServices has invested heavily in clinical governance. We completed the first phase of IQIPS accreditation in early 2020 before Covid19 disrupted our progress. We are however resuming our accreditation process. We are ISO9001 accredited. MediServices has a clinical governance board led by Dr Adrian Fowle, President of the British Society of Clinical Neurophysiology between 2017 and 2020. The board meets monthly and discusses service improvement.
As a CQC registered organisation we are regulated and meet national standards. We currently offer services nationwide assisting thousands of patients each year. Anabela Ferreira Operations Director adds “We are continuously reviewing our process, with external and internal audits looking at all aspects of the service from administration to clinical services. We are constantly recruiting the best in the field and working on innovative pathways to help alleviate pressures on the NHS.”
SRFT have been working with MediServices for a number of years.
SRFT is one of the largest neurosciences centres in the country and has a significant and growing need for neurophysiological services including IOM and EMG. We have found MediServices to be consistently professional, flexible, and responsive to our service needs over this period and would have no reservations in recommending their services to other providers.
